Meet the future of offshore engineering at Harlyn Solutions.

This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re shining a spotlight on two brilliant members of the Harlyn Solutions team, Euan and Lucas. As a business, we’re committed to nurturing the next generation of engineering talent in the region, and we work hard to ensure they have the exposure and learning opportunities from day one to support their career journey.

Euan began in our site delivery team and has since progressed into engineering – gaining a full perspective of how major projects come together. We asked him to reflect on his journey so far.

What’s been the biggest thing you’ve learned here so far that you didn’t expect when you started?

“The biggest thing I’ve learned is that no department is more important than the other. Harlyn has a real fluidity across all departments, which is crucial for large-scale projects. I used to focus solely on site delivery, but now I understand the full cycle from commercial to engineering to site, it’s fascinating looking back on these stages when a project is complete.”

What’s something you can do now on your own that you found scary or hard to do when you started?

“I can now sling loads and work as a banksman independently. When I first started, this felt daunting because of the risks involved with lifting operations. But thanks to college training and learning from the lifting experts I work with, I now feel comfortable and really enjoy this aspect of my job.”

Lucas is currently working with our site and delivery teams, getting hands-on experience in offshore engineering operations.

What are you most looking forward to this year working at Harlyn?

“I’m looking forward to developing and growing my knowledge so that I can be a useful asset for the company in the near future. I’m really enthusiastic and eager to gain hands-on experience on various types of work including the running and housekeeping in the shed and complex project scopes.”

If you had to describe your apprenticeship in 3 words, what would they be?

“Practical, intriguing, structured.”

We’re proud to partner with Energy Central Campus and Port Training Services to create meaningful career pathways and develop the next generation of skilled engineers. Apprenticeships aren’t just training – they’re an investment in the future of the offshore engineering industry.

Well done Euan and Lucas.
