The third quarter has been one of progress, collaboration, and expansion for Harlyn Solutions, as we continued to deliver complex projects, strengthen regional and international partnerships, and invest in our growing team.
Team Day at Yorkshire Outdoors
After a demanding stretch of overlapping projects, the Harlyn team enjoyed a well-deserved day out at Yorkshire Outdoors. The event offered a welcome break from the pace of project work — complete with off-road driving, clay pigeon shooting guided by expert instructors, and a relaxed lunch at The Carpenters Arms. It was a great way to unwind, celebrate recent achievements, and reconnect as a team outside of the day-to-day.
Successful Completion of the Western Rock Charter
This quarter marked the conclusion of our campaign with the Western Rock, which spent 96 days in charter across six countries and three continents, including a canal transit. The vessel and her crew delivered exceptional results throughout, and following a smooth demobilisation in Blyth, we extended our thanks to everyone involved. The project’s success reflects the dedication of our team and partners in completing another major offshore campaign safely and efficiently.
Engaging with the Industry
We’ve had a strong presence at a number of industry events this quarter, reconnecting with clients and building new relationships. Among the highlights was Cables 2025, hosted by Global Underwater Hub, where we showcased our cable transport model — demonstrating how innovative logistics approaches can enhance the efficiency and safety of cable handling and storage.
Our SPMTs, fresh from recent work across Europe and the United States, also drew plenty of attention and sparked engaging discussions about the evolving needs of large-scale offshore transport operations.
Joining the Energi Coast Cluster
Harlyn is proud to have officially joined Energi Coast, the North East’s leading offshore wind cluster. This step strengthens our ties to the region’s world-class energy supply chain and reflects our commitment to collaboration that drives innovation, capability, and global competitiveness for UK offshore projects.
Expanding Our Footprint in Blyth and Rotterdam
Growth continues at pace for Harlyn, with two significant office developments announced this quarter:
Blyth: Later this year, we’ll be moving into the historic Port of Blyth Harbour Commissioners Office, situated prominently on Bridge Street and Plessey Road. The new space represents another milestone in our journey as a Tier 1 contractor delivering projects worldwide while maintaining a strong local base.
Rotterdam: We’ve also opened Harlyn BV, our new European office in the Netherlands. Establishing a permanent presence in Rotterdam allows us to better serve clients across Europe and further strengthen our logistics and engineering capabilities on the continent.
Partnering with Energy Central Campus
We’re delighted to announce that Harlyn has joined Energy Central Campus (ECC) as an employer member. Based at the Port of Blyth, ECC plays a vital role in developing the region’s clean energy skills base. Through this partnership, we’ll work together to support education, training, and employment pathways for the next generation of local talent entering the clean energy and offshore industries.
Fleet Growth: New SPMTs Delivered
This quarter also saw the successful arrival of our new Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs), following their initial deployment on a major European project. These advanced transporters are a key part of our ongoing investment in heavy-lift and cable-handling capabilities, positioning Harlyn to support critical operations for clients through the remainder of the year and beyond.
